There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”

~1 Corinthians 12:4-6

Spiritual Gifts and Serving Others

“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” ~1 Corinthians 12:7  “

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10

At Ghent United Methodist Church, there are many ways to serve your neighbor, your community, and your world. You’ll be sure to find something here that fits your unique spiritual gifts and offers you an outlet for strengthening the Body of Christ, building up others, and glorifying God.

Church Missions

In Matthew 25:31-46, Christ tells a parable about the importance of reaching out in His name to those who are physically hungry, thirsty, in need of companionship or clothing. He tells us, “…whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

So we reach out to the lonely, the lost, and the least in our church body, our local community, across the nation, and around the world.   At Ghent UMC, our Missions Subcommittee has identified three categories for missions: Poverty, Environment and Children.

Congregational Care

“But God has put the body together…so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.” ~1 Corinthians 12:25-26

In times of grief, loss, illness, and isolation, we naturally turn to one another. At Ghent United Methodist Church, our Congregational Care Ministry offers families and individuals the encouragement, prayer and support they need, while engaging the congregation in service and community with each other, as Jesus intended.
